Tennessee takes down Texas A&M to advance
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Diamond DeShields scored 21 points, Bashaara Graves added 19 and Tennessee beat No. 15 Texas A&M 70-60 in the Southeastern Conference tournament Friday.
DeShields (7 of 11) and Graves (7 of 11) combined to make 14 of 22 shots as the seventh-seeded Lady Vols won their third consecutive game and advanced to the semifinals of the league tournament. Tennessee will play No. 3 seed Mississippi State on Saturday.
The Lady Vols can only hope to keep playing like they have the last three times out.
They shot 43 percent against second-seeded Texas A&M and made 22 of 24 free throws, enough to overcome the Aggies' 19 offensive rebounds.
DeShields had six rebounds and four assists, and Graves finished with seven boards.
Courtney Williams led Texas A&M with 20 points on 10-of-20 shooting. She scored 10 straight points in the second half, but couldn't get the Aggies closer than 50-47 down the stretch.
