Greenville, S.C.-- No. 2 seed LSU (27-1, 15-1 SEC) proved to be too much for No. 7 seed Georgia, 83-66, in the quarterfinals of the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Tigers dominated on both ends of the court, leading for over 38 minutes of the game and causing UGA to commit 14 turnovers.

Alexis Morris led the Tigers' offense with 28 points while Flau'jae Johnson followed narrowly behind with 20 and a team-high eight rebounds.

Alisha Lewis was a key factor for the Bulldogs as she recorded her first career double-double. She led them with 14 points and had 11 of their 17 assists.

LSU opened the game with hot shooting from behind the arc. Morris drained three to lead the charge of the Tigers' 12-3 run at the outset.

When these two teams faced off on Feb. 2, Morris didn't score in the first half. But she made her presence known this game with nine points in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs responded to the run by forcing turnovers and attacked the paint to get their offense flowing, ending the quarter trailing, 28-18. LSU's 28 points were its most in the first quarter against an SEC opponent this season.

Lewis helped Georgia regain momentum to start the second quarter, going on a 10-4 run to cut its deficit to 32-28 as she dished out two assists and knocked down a triple.

At the 4:23 mark with LSU leading 42-32, there was a 44-minute delay due to severe weather in the area that led to some water leaking onto the court.

After re-warming up, both teams struggled to find their rhythm as a total of only seven points were scored before heading into halftime with LSU holding a 46-35 advantage.

Johnson, SEC Freshman of the Year, caused problems for the Bulldogs through the first half as she scored 11 points, shooting 3-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Bulldogs did not lack bench production as they outscored LSU's bench 24-0 in the first half.

Both teams' offensive lulls continued into the third quarter, but Morris continued to be efficient offensively, scoring 11 points in the quarter. Johnson ended the third with a bang for the Tigers as she drilled a three-pointer with the clock winding down, extending their lead to 73-49.

LSU matched its program record of 11 threes in a SEC Tournament game which was previously done vs. Florida in 1995.

Morris matched her career-high of five three-pointers and was just three points shy of matching her career-high.

Lewis became the first Georgia player to record back-to-back 10-assist games in the past 20 seasons.

LSU will face 3-seed Tennessee in the semifinals of the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, 25 minutes after the conclusion of the Ole Miss-South Carolina game.

Georgia (21-10, 9-7 SEC) is eliminated from the tournament.
