Men's Runner of the Week
Godson Oghenebrume, LSU
Godson Oghenebrume beat out a loaded 100m field to place first at the LSU Invitational with a time of 10.01 (+3.3). It was the fastest SEC time last week and second fastest time in the nation last week. In the men's 4x100, Oghenebrume anchored a time of 38.26 which ranks No. 1 in the nation, No. 4 in the world, No. 2 in LSU history, No. 5 in collegiate history, and is a Bernie Moore stadium record. They shaved .10 off their time of 38.36 last weekend, which was No. 6 in collegiate history.
Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Rojé Stona, Arkansas
Rojé Stona unleashed another career best discus mark in the sixth round from a wet ring surface. His mark of 219-10 (67.02) bettered the field which included teammate Ralford Mullings (203-11|62.16) and defending NCAA champion Claudio Romero of LSU (166-3|50.69). Now equal No. 4 performer on the all-time collegiate list, Stona improved his UA school record from 218-8 (66.64) during the previous week and bettered the World Athletics standard of 67 meters for the 2023 World Athletics Championships this summer. Stona ranks sixth on the 2023 world list in the discus and is second among collegians.
Men's Freshman of the Week
Jaydon Hibbert, Arkansas
Jaydon Hibbert won the LSU Invitational on his first and only jump as his short approach reached a distance of 56-4 (17.17), just four inches off his outdoor best of 56-8 (17.27) set in winning the World U20 Championship last summer. Runner-up to Hibbert in the meet was a mark of 52-10.75 (16.12) from Alabama's Christian Edwards. Hibbert is equal No. 2 on the 2023 world list and the outdoor collegiate leader. His outdoor mark ranks No. 7 on the UA all-time list, while his indoor collegiate record of 57-6.5 (17.54) equals Mike Conley's wind-legal outdoor best as a Razorback.
Women's Runner of the Week
Ackera Nugent, Arkansas
Ackera Nugent won the 100m hurdles in 12.52 at the LSU Invitational, defeating defending NCAA champion Alia Armstrong (12.56) in the process. Nugent's time ranks No. 3 on the 2023 world list as the top Jamaican hurdler, and she's No. 2 among collegians this season. Nugent, who has a career best of 12.45, ranks No. 2 on the UA all-time list with her 12.52 performance. Nugent bettered LSU's Bernie Moore Stadium record of 12.70 set by Purdue's Devynne Charlton in 2018.
Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Jasmine Mitchell, Ole Miss
Jasmine Mitchell set the SEC lead in the hammer after winning the LSU Invite on an 11-foot PR of 69.58m/228-03. She currently leads the SEC by almost three feet and ranks No. 3 in the NCAA and No. 2 in the East Region, and she is ranked No. 28 worldwide and No. 10 in the United States this season. Mitchell also finished fifth in the shot put at a season-best 16.75m/54-11.50, which puts her No. 32 in the NCAA, No. 14 in the East and No. 8 in the SEC this year.
Women's Co-Freshman of the Week
Kaila Jackson, Georgia
Kaila Jackson was the leadoff leg on Georgia's 4x100m relay team that set the school record with the fourth-fastest time in the nation this year and the 10th-best time in the world in 2023. The relay was also the No. 16 all-time collegiate performer. Jackson also clocked her third 100m time which would rank in the country's top 25 this season with an 11.23 for sixth place at the LSU Invite.
Alida van Daalen, Florida
Alida van Daalen secured gold in the women's discus competition with a mark of (56.86m/186'6"). Van Daalen has not finished off the podium in any discus competition this season. Van Daalen earned bronze in shot put (17.45m/57'3"), securing her third podium finish of the outdoor season in the event. She has finished third or better in every outdoor shot put competition she has competed in as a Gator.
