Vanderbilt struggles offensively in loss to Texas Tech
FORT WORTH, Texas - Texas Tech shot 56.3 percent from three-point range to down Vanderbilt, 76-54, on Saturday night in the US LBM Coast-to-Coast Challenge in Dickies Arena.
Pop Isaacs scored 19 to lead four Red Raiders in double figures. Chance McMillan added 14 while Joe Toussaint and Warren Washington scored 12 each. Ven-Allen Lubin led the Commodores with 15 points. Tyrin Lawrence scored eight points and matched a career high with four steals.
The Red Raiders raced out to a 9-0 lead, hitting their first three three-pointers of the game. Texas Tech built its lead to 27-13 with 6:15 to play in the first half. Vanderbilt responded with a 12-4 run and finished the half down 33-25.
Vanderbilt opened the second half with back-to-back buckets from Lubin to trim the deficit to four at 33-29, but Texas Tech reeled off a 7-0 run to retake control.
Texas Tech outrebounded Vanderbilt 40-29 in the game. The Commodores finished 35.6 percent (21-of-59) from the field and 20 percent (4-of-20) from three.
