Vanderbilt Holds Lead at SEC Men's Golf Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (APRIL 21, 2022) -- The Vanderbilt Commodores shot 274 on Thursday to maintain the lead by five strokes after the second day of the SEC Men's Golf Championships at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Florida rose to second place after shooting 269, followed by LSU in third place with a 276.

Individually, Texas A&M's Phichaksn Maichon moved up to first place after carding his second 67 of the tournament. John DuBois of Florida, Ford Clegg of Mississippi State, Ryan Hall of South Carolina, Reid Davenport, Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt, and Trent Phillips of Georgia all sit tied in second place at 4-under.

Following Friday's final round of stroke play, the top-eight teams will advance to the match play portion of the championship.

This marks the 21st year for the Southeastern Conference Championship to be held at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia. There will be one more day of stroke play, followed by match play on Saturday and Sunday. The championship match on Sunday will be televised live on SEC Network. The semifinals on Saturday will be available live on SECN+.
