Florida extends lead at Day 3 SEC Swim & Dive

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (February 16, 2023) - Florida has extended its lead after the third day at the 2023 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships, held at Texas A&M's Rec Center Natatorium.

Emma Weyant of Florida won the women's 400 IM with the second fastest time in the nation this year of 4:01.18. Lauren Poole of Kentucky finished second with a time of 4:04.62, and Giulia Goerigk of Texas A&M took third with a time of 4:06.84.

Baylor Nelson of Texas A&M became the first Aggie to win the men's 400 IM with the third fastest time in the nation this year of 3:38.14. Anze Fers Erzen of Texas A&M placed second with a time of 3:40.10, while Ian Grum of Georgia finished third with a time of 3:40.32.

Maggie MacNeil of LSU set the SEC and SEC Meet record in the women's 100 fly with her top time of 48.99. Meghan Lee of Alabama took second place with a time of 51.01, followed by Rhyan White of Alabama in third place with a time of 51.47.

Josh Liendo of Florida touched the wall first in the men's 100 fly with his time of 44.11. Jordan Crooks of Tennessee came in second place with a time of 44.37, and Clement Secchi of Missouri finished third with a time of 45.08.

In the women's 200 free, Brooklyn Douthwright of Tennessee captured the gold with her top time of 1:42.64. Second place went to Chloe Stepanek of Texas A&M with a time of 1:43.37, and Micayla Cronk of Florida took third with a time of 1:43.77.

Charlie Hawke of Alabama won the men's 200 free with his time of 1:31.20. Jack Dahlgren of Missouri finished second with a time of 1:31.34. Macguire McDuff of Florida placed third with a time of 1:32.34.

For the final event of the night, Bryden Hattie of Tennessee won the men's 3-meter springboard with a final score of 429.20. Texas A&M took the next two podium spots, with Victory Povzner taking home the silver (412.65) and Takuto Endo claiming the bronze (400.35).

The 2023 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships continues Friday, February 17 at 9:30 a.m. CT with the preliminaries for the 200 fly, 100 back, 100 breaststroke and women's platform diving. The finals of those four events plus the 400 medley relay will start at 5:30 p.m. CT. All sessions can be viewed on SEC Network+.
