Six SEC cross country teams in preseason national poll
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Aug. 31, 2023) ----- Six Southeastern Conference cross country programs are ranked in the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Coaches' Polls, according to an announcement Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Three SEC men's programs are ranked in the top-25: Tennessee at No. 16, Arkansas at No. 20 and Alabama at No. 23. Ole Miss is included in a group of six teams also receiving votes.
Three SEC women's programs are ranked in the top-25: Florida at No. 9, Alabama at No. 13 and Arkansas at No. 19.
The Tennessee men's team and Florida women's team were picked No. 1 in the SEC preseason coaches' polls released earlier this week. The SEC cross country season is set to begin Friday, and the 2023 SEC Cross Country Championships are slated to take place Friday, Oct. 27 in Columbia, S.C.
