Seven SEC cross country teams in preseason poll
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Aug. 31, 2022) ----- Seven Southeastern Conference cross country programs are ranked in the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Coaches' Polls, according to an announcement Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Four SEC men's programs are ranked in the top-30: Arkansas at No. 12, Ole Miss at No. 19, Alabama at No. 26 and Tennessee at No. 30.
Three SEC women's programs are ranked in the top-16: Arkansas at No. 9, Alabama at No. 12 and Ole Miss at No. 16. Tennessee and Kentucky were also included in a group of 13 teams receiving votes.
Alabama was picked No. 1 in both the SEC men's and women's preseason coaches' poll released earlier this week. The SEC cross country season is set to begin Thursday, and the 2022 SEC Cross Country Championships are slated to take place Friday, Oct. 28 in Oxford, Miss.
