Game 2 Notes & Quotes

HOOVER, Ala. - Regular-season home run leader J.B. Woodman propelled No. 7 seed Ole Miss past No. 10 seed Georgia 5-1 with a two-hit, 3 RBI performance in Game 2 of the 2016 SEC Baseball Tournament.

Woodman has seven RBIs in four games against Georgia this season. The Rebels improve to 36-0 when leading after six innings.

"We knew today was one of those where you've got to win or you go home," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "We know better than anybody. You know, we've played this game a few times."

Georgia took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with a Stephen Wrenn solo home run, his fifth home run of the season.

"We knew we would pitch anybody," Bianco said. "I'm proud of Brady (Bramlett), giving up the home run early and sticking in there and giving us four strong."

Starting Georgia pitcher Heath Holder retired 10 consecutive batters through the first 3.1 innings. Holder hit a rough patch in the fourth, starting with a Woodman 2 RBI triple, putting the Rebels up 2-1. Two batters later, Colby Bortles' two-run double extended the lead to 4-1. Woodman added another run with an RBI double in the 5th, putting the Rebels up 5-1.

"It's all about the timely hits, especially in this field," said Bianco. "It plays so big that when you get runners on you have to score and we did that today."

Ole Miss also saw success from its bullpen, which threw five scoreless innings. Starting pitcher Brady Bramlett (8-3) held Georgia batters to three hits and one run in four innings pitched.

Georgia pitcher Heath Holder (4-5) dipped under .500 with the loss, allowing four runs off four hits with four errors. Georgia has lost seven straight SEC Tournament games when allowing four or more runs.
