HOOVER, Ala. -- Matt Kent led the third-seeded Aggies to a 6-1 win over No. 2 Vanderbilt in Game 11 of the SEC Baseball Tournament. Kent pitched a full game and only allowed four Commodore hits through nine innings. The Aggies' pitcher said his aggressive approach helped their defense take control of the game.

"Just going in there and attack and making them hit pitches that I like," said Kent. "If I got behind the count, they got to see pitches they liked. I was able to get ahead most of the game and keep them off balance with different arm slots and different speeds."

The Aggies started strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. A Ryne Birke single to left center followed by a Carson Fulmer pitch that hit Mitchell Nau set the table for the Aggies. Birke put the first run on the board after a Nick Banks single, followed by a Hunter Melton single that brought Nau in from third.

Texas A&M turned the second inning into a slugfest with back-to-back homers. Blake Allemand's two-run home run was immediately followed by a solo home run shot by Birke to put the Aggies up 5-0.

Allemand doubled up on his home run effords and blasted a deep ball over the right field fence in the top of the fourth to extend the Aggie lead to 6-0.

The Commodores' Dansby Swanson's solo home run put Vandy on the board in the bottom of the fourth, his third home run of the tournament. Swanson's homer represented the lone Vandy hit of the inning.

Texas A&M advances with a bye on Friday to play the winner of Game 13 at noon CT, Saturday. Vanderbilt will play No. 11 Alabama in an elimination game at 3:00 p.m., CT, Friday on SEC Network.
