OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 16 Alabama soccer team (10-3-4, 4-3-1 SEC) captured a 1-0 victory against Ole Miss (6-6-3, 2-4-2 SEC) Thursday night, as the Crimson Tide became the first visiting team this season to walk away with a win inside Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

Itala Gemelli netted the game-winning shot in the 37th minute off a pass from Gessica Skorka. Coralie Lallier made five saves in the game to tally the third shutout during her rookie campaign.

From Head Coach Wes Hart

"Massive win for us tonight. Winning on the road in this league is not easy. They (Ole Miss) were undefeated at home before tonight, and we came in and got three points and put us in a great position for Pensacola and the NCAA Tournament."

The Game

  • Pressure from the Crimson Tide offense allowed Gessica Skorka to intercept a failed clearance by the Ole Miss backline
  • After settling the ball, she passed it towards the top of the six-yard box to Itala Gemelli who took a touch and fired a shot into the back of the net
  • Alabama led the game in shots, 13-7, including taking a 7-1 advantage in the second half
  • Coralie Lallier tallied her third shutout in nine games after making five saves against the Rebels
  • Ole Miss suffered its first loss at home as UA snapped an eight-game undefeated streak
  • Skorka has assisted the game-winning goal in back-to-back games as the defender moves to four assists on the year
