Gators, Aggies hold steady at SEC Championships

Athens, Ga. - The Florida men and Texas A&M women maintain their lead after day four at the 2019 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium.

To begin the evening session, Olivia Carter of Georgia won the women's 200 fly with a final time of 1:53.23. Jing Quah of Texas A&M came in second (1:54.29), and Dakota Luther of Georgia in third place (1:54.32).

Camden Murphy of Georgia won the men's 200 fly with a top time of 1:40.62. Maxime Rooney of Florida placed second with a time of 1:40.87, while Fynn Minuth of South Carolina came in third place with a time of 1:41.49.

Alyssa Tetzloff of Auburn earned the gold medal in the women's 100 back, posting a top time of 50.92. Asia Seidt of Kentucky placed second with a time of 51.16, and Sherridon Dressel of Florida took third with a time of 51.17.

Zane Waddell of Alabama touched the wall first in the men's 100 back with a time of 44.77. Kacper Stokowski of Florida finished second (45.31), and Joey Reilman of Tennessee took third (45.35).

Anna Belousova of Texas A&M won the women's 100 breaststroke for the second consecutive year with a time of 57.99. Nikol Popov of Tennessee earned second place with a time of 58.24, and Sofia Carnevale of Georgia was third with a time of 59.19.

Itay Goldfaden of South Carolina recorded the top time in the men's 100 breaststroke of 51.72. Caleb Hicks of Missouri finished second with a time of 51.80, and Marco Guarente of Florida came in third with a time of 52.12.

In women's platform diving, Marissa Roth of South Carolina claimed first place after recording a top score of 304.80. Courtney Clark of Kentucky finished second with a score of 292.20, and Alais Kalonji of Texas A&M earned third place with a score of 292.25.

The Tennessee foursome of Erika Brown, Popov, Madeline Banic and Bailey Grinter won the women's 400 medley relay with an SEC meet record time of 3:28.43. Second place went to Auburn (3:29.06) and third place to Kentucky (3:31.27).

Missouri won the men's 400 medley relay for the first time in program history as Daniel Hein, Caleb Hicks, Danny Kovac and Mikel Schreuders finished first with an SEC meet record time of 3:03.37. Alabama finished second in a time of 3:04.17, and Texas A&M took third with a time of 3:04.86.

The 2019 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships concludes on Saturday, Feb. 22. Preliminaries for the 200 back, 100 free and 200 breast begin at 10 a.m. ET. Prelims for the men's platform diving will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by timed finals for the 1650 free. The evening session will begin at 6 p.m. on SEC Network +, with the finals for the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, men's platform and the 400 free relay.
