Florida Leads at SEC Women's Swimming Championship

Through the first seven events, Florida owns the early lead at the 2021 SEC Women's Swimming Championship at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Florida has a team score of 393, followed by Georgia in second place with 362 points. Alabama is in third place with 345 points. The team scores include the swimming events from Wednesday and Thursday as well at the results from the women's 1-meter diving Wednesday night.

Courtney Harnish of Georgia won her third consecutive SEC title in the 500 free, touching the wall first in a time of 4:35.33. Kristen Stege of Tennessee placed second in a time of 4:38.38, while Peyton Palsha finished third in a time of 4:38.97.

Georgia also captured the gold in the 200 IM as Zoie Hartman finished the event in a time of 1:53.68. Vanessa Pearl of Florida took second with a time of 1:54.72. Alexis Yager of Tennessee came in third with a time of 1:55.67.

Alabama earned the first two podium spots in the 50 Free, with Kalia Antoniou placing first in a time of 21.69 and Cora Dupre taking second place with a time of 21.82. Katelyn Mack of Florida finished third in a time of 21.85.

Alabama was also victorious in the 200 free relay as Antonoiu, Morgan Scott, Flora Molnar and Dupre post a combined time of 1:27.02. Sarah Thompson, Megan Keil, Amy Feddersen and Alex Moderski of Missouri came in second place at 1:27.36. Mona McSharry, Natalie Ungaretti, Megan Sichterman and Bailey Grinter of Tennessee finished third at 1:28.00.

Day three of the 2021 SEC Women's Swimming Championship starts at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19 with the prelims for the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, and 100 back. The finals of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 back and the 400 medley relay are set to begin at 6 p.m. ET. Both sessions can be viewed on SEC Network+.
