Florida Leads Following Day Three of Men's Swimming

Florida leads the team standings after the third night of the 2021 SEC Men's Swimming Championship at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

Florida holds the top spot with 961.50 points. Georgia is in second place with 881 points, and Tennessee sits in third place with 655 points.

The Gators went 1-2 in the 400 IM as Kieran Smith set the pool record with his winning time of 3:37.47 and Bobby Finke came in second with a time of 3:39.15. Ian Grum of Georgia placed third with his time of 3:40.51.

One of the closest races of the meet came in the 100 fly. Camden Murphy of Georgia captured the gold with his time of 44.81. Danny Kovac of Missouri was runner-up with a time of 44.84, while Shaine Casas of Texas A&M took third with a time of 44.91.

Jake Magahey of Georgia finished first in the 200 free with a time of 1:32.22. Mark Theall of Texas A&M placed second with a time of 1:32.48, followed by Brooks Curry of LSU with a time of 1:32.64.

Dillon Hillis of Florida won the 100 breaststroke after he registered an NCAA A-cut time 51.22. Michael Houlie of Tennessee came in second at 51.41, and Ben Patton of Missouri finished third at 51.80.

Javier Acevedo set the pool record to win the 100 back with his time of 44.96. Adam Chaney of Florida finished second with a time of 45.29, and Matthew Menke of Alabama captured third place with a time of 45.46.

In the final event of the night, Florida set the pool record in the 400 medley relay as Chaney, Hillis, Eric Friese and Smith posted a combined time of 3:02.66. Jack Dahlgren, Patton, Kovac and Freddie Rindshoej finished second with a time of 3:04.59. Alabama took third place as Menke, Derek Maas, Colton Stogner and Matt King recorded a combined time of 3:04.72.

The 2021 SEC Men's Swimming Championship concludes on Friday, February 26. The prelims of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and 1650 free will begin at 10 a.m. CT. Finals for the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and the 400 free relay are slated to start at 6 pm. CT. Both sessions can be seen on SEC Network+.
