Eight teams reach match play at SEC Golf Tournament

HOOVER, Ala.-----No. 9 South Carolina, No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn, No. 12 Florida, No. 21 Vanderbilt and Missouri finished in the top eight of stroke play to advance to the match play portion of the SEC Championships at Greystone's Legacy Course.

South Carolina (285) finished with a three-day team best score of 3-over par 867, while Alabama (282) carded the low round of the day to finish at 8-over 872. Arkansas (283-875) was third, followed by Georgia (299-895), Auburn (289-896), Florida (297-896), Vanderbilt (297-899) and Missouri (295-907) to round out the top-eight.

Kentucky (303-913) was ninth, ahead of Mississippi State (302-915), Ole Miss (295-916), Tennessee (304-918), Texas A&M (296-923) and LSU (303-927).

South Carolina's Ainhoa Olarra shot a 2-under 70 and won a playoff on the second hole against Arkansas' Maria Fassi to win the individual title.

The quarterfinal matches will feature No. 1 South Carolina vs. No. 8 Missouri, No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 7 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Arkansas vs. No. 6 Florida and No. 4 Georgia vs. No. 5 Auburn. Play begins at 7 a.m. CT on Saturday the semifinals to follow later in the day.

This marks the sixth consecutive year for the Southeastern Conference Championship to be contested at the Greystone Golf and Country Club just outside of Birmingham, Alabama.

The 2018 event will mark the first in which the championship will extend to five days, with match play on Saturday and Sunday. The championship match on Sunday, April 22 will also be televised live on SEC Network.
