Eight Teams To Compete In Match Play At Championship

HOOVER, Ala. (April 15, 2022)-----No. 20 Auburn, No. 14 LSU, No. 3 South Carolina, No. 23 Ole Miss, No. 10 Florida, No. 9 Alabama, No. 7 Vanderbilt and Tennessee finished in the top-eight of stroke play Friday to advance to the match play portion of the SEC Women's Golf Championship at Greystone's Legacy Course.

Auburn shot an even-par 288 for the third consecutive day for a three-round total of 864. LSU (286) was second at 866, while South Carolina (288-867) was third. Ole Miss (286-876) was fourth, followed by Florida (292-880), Alabama (288-880), Vanderbilt (290-881) and Tennessee (292-887) to round out the top-eight.

No. 11 Texas A&M (295-892) placed ninth, ahead of No. 27 Georgia (295-893), No. 29 Mississippi State (302-895), No. 22 Kentucky (301-895), No. 19 Arkansas (304-899) and Missouri (306-921).

A year after finishing as the runner-up, LSU's Ingrid Lindblad (206) won the individual title with a 6-under 66 in the final round.

Due to expected rain in the Birmingham area this weekend, quarterfinal matches began in the afternoon on Friday. When play was stopped LSU led Vanderbilt, Auburn led Tennessee, South Carolina led Alabama, and Florida led Ole Miss. Matches will resume Saturday not before 8 a.m. CT.

This marks the ninth year for the Southeastern Conference Championship to be contested at the Greystone Golf and Country Club just outside of Birmingham. The event consists of three days of stroke play, with the top eight teams advance to match play.

The championship match on Sunday is slated to be televised live on the SEC Network.
