Crimson Tide, Rebels and Tigers lead after Day 1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Alabama men and Ole Miss and Missouri women currently lead the 2018 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships following the opening day of competition Friday at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium on the campus of the University of Tennessee.

The Alabama men currently lead the way with 30 total team points while Mississippi State is second with 16 and Florida is third with 15. Arkansas has 13, followed by Auburn (11), Georgia (10), Texas A&M (8), Kentucky (7), LSU (5), and Tennessee (2).

The Ole Miss and Missouri women share the lead with 15 team points, while Alabama is third with 11. Tennessee has 10, followed by Mississippi State (8), Georgia (6), Auburn (6), Texas A&M (5) and Florida (2).

Georgia's Karl Saluri leads the men's decathlon with a total of 4,200 points, and Texas A&M's Tyra Gittens currently holds the lead in the women's heptathlon with a total of 3,842.

Individual champions crowned Thursday were: Georgia's Denzel Comenentia in the men's hammer (75.92m/249-1, meet record), Tennessee's Stamatia Scarvelis in the women's hammer (66.19m/217-2), Mississippi State's Anderson Peters in the men's javelin (82.04m/269-2, meet record), Alabama's Vincent Kiprop in the men's 10,000 meter-run (29:16.64), and Missouri's Megan Cunningham in the women's 10,000-meter run (33:47.05).

The SEC Outdoor Championships continue on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. ET. Tickets are available for purchase at UTSports.com, with all-session passes just $25 for adults and $10 for students.
