HOOVER, Ala. -- In a rematch of the 2014 SEC Baseball championship, Florida came from behind to beat No. 1 LSU, 2-1, punching its ticket to this year's SEC Baseball Tournament Championship.

Florida took the lead for the first time with the first pitch of the ninth inning as Mike Rivera put out a deep homer to left field. The Gators and relief pitcher Taylor Lewis held on in the bottom of the ninth as his defense held LSU to two fly balls and a ground out to get three-up and three-down.

"It was a heck of a ballgame," said Florida head coach Kevin O'Sullivan. "We battled all the way until the end. It was a great environment."

The Gators got on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth, as JJ Schwarz doubled to left field bringin Josh Tobias in for the Gators' first run of the day. In an LSU team effort of Jared Foster to Alex Bregman to Kade Scivicque to Conner Hale to Mark Laird play, LSU got two outs - one at third (Peter Alonso) and another at second (Schwarz).

It was a defensive battle in the matchup between the top-seeded Tigers and the fourth-seeded Gators. LSU recorded nine hits and eight runners left on base through nine innings. Tigers' pitcher Alex Lange pitched seven innings and recorded seven strikeouts.

The Gators had nine hits on two runs with 10 runners left on base. Lewis took the win for the orange and blue, improving his record to 6-1 on the season.

LSU's lone run came from a Jared Foster single in the bottom of the second inning, allowing Kade Scivicque to cross home. Tiger relief pitcher Jesse Stallings took the loss, moving to 1-2 on the year.

"LSU is a great ball club," Sullivan said. "There is a reason why they're the No. 1 team in the country. It was a great ballgame all the way around by both clubs."

Florida improves to 43-16 on the season as it heads into the championship game. LSU falls to 48-10 and awaits its postseason berth with hopes to make a College World Series berth.

In the 2014 championship matchup, LSU defeated Florida, 2-0.
