Big splash keeps UF ahead at Day 4 SEC Swim & Dive

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (February 17, 2023) - Florida continued its lead following the fourth day of the 2023 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships, held at Texas A&M's Rec Center Natatorium.

In the women's 200 fly, Jenna Bridges of LSU became the first Tiger since 1986 to win the event with her top time of 1:54.18. Callie Dickinson of Georgia placed second with a time of 1:54.63, and Sara Stotler of Tennessee finished third with a time of 1:54.88.

Clement Secchi of Missouri earned the Tigers' first gold medal in the men's 200 fly, posting a top time of 1:41.07. Joaquin Gonzalez Pinero of Florida took second place with a time of 1:41.37, followed by Wilby Mason of Kentucky in third place with a time of 1:41.59.

Rhyan White of Alabama won her fourth consecutive SEC title in the women's 100 back with her time of 50.92. Runner-up was Josephine Fuller of Tennessee with a time of 51.26, and third place went to Eboni McCarty of Georgia with a time of 51.35.

Adam Chaney of Florida defended his title in the men's 100 back with his winning time of 44.18. Nathan Stoffle of Auburn placed second with a time of 45.04, and Michael Laitarovsky of South Carolina came in third with a time of 45.27.

Mona McSharry won her second consecutive SEC title in the women's 100 breaststroke with an SEC Meet record time of 50.25. Zoie Hartman of Georgia was second at 58.65, followed by Avery Wiseman of Alabama at 58.71.

The first two podium spots in the men's 100 breaststroke went to Florida, with Dillon Hillis winning his second SEC title in three years with a time of 51.02 and Aleks Savickas posting a time of 51.07. Reid Mikuta of Auburn captured third place with a time of 51.22.

Montserrat Lavenant of LSU recorded the top score on women's platform of 293.50 to take home the gold. Kyndal Knight of Kentucky finished second with a final score of 285.45, and Maggie Buckley of LSU was third with a score of 268.45.

Alabama won the women's 400 medley relay for the second consecutive year as Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Emily Jones and Kalia Antoniou posted a combined time of 3:28.46. Tennessee finished second with a time of 3:28.78, followed by Florida with a time of 3:29.98

Florida set the SEC and SEC Meet record in the men's 400 medley relay to close out the night, with Adam Chaney, Dillon Hillis, Josh Liendo and Macguire McDuff posting the top time of 2:59.48. Tennessee came in second with a time of 3:02.51, and Auburn placed third with a time of 3:03.03.

The 2023 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships concludes on Saturday, February 18. Preliminaries for the 200 back, 100 free and 200 breaststroke will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT. Prelims for men's platform diving will begin at noon CT, followed by timed finals for the 1650 free. The evening session will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT with the finals for the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, men's platform and the 400 free relay.
