Auburn maintains lead at SEC Women's Golf Championship
HOOVER, Ala. (April 14, 2022)-----The No. 20 Auburn women's golf team fired an even-par 288 for the second consecutive day and increased its lead to three shots after the second day of the SEC Championships Thursday at Greystone Golf and Country Club's Legacy Course.
The Tigers (288-576) enter the final day of stroke play with a three-shot lead over No. 3 South Carolina. The Gamecocks carded a 2-over 290 for a total of 579. LSU (289-580) stands third.
Auburn's Megan Schofill (67-137) sits atop the individual leaderboard, one shot of ahead of Tennessee's Mikayla Bardwell (138), who set the SEC Championship record with her 9-under 63. LSU's Ingrid Lindblad (68-140) is third.
Following Friday's final round of stroke play, the top-eight teams will advance to the match play portion of the championship.
This marks the ninth year for the Southeastern Conference Championship to be held at the Greystone Golf and Country Club just outside of Birmingham, Ala. The 2022 event will mark the third straight in which the championship will be held over five days with match play on Saturday and Sunday. The opening three rounds will consist of stroke play. The championship match on Sunday will be televised live on SEC Network. The semifinals on Saturday will be available live on SECN+.
The third round of the SEC Championship will begin with a shotgun start Friday at 9 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available at SECSports.com and golfstat.com.
The top eight teams after the third round of stroke play will advance to match play competition. Due to predicted weather in the area Saturday and Sunday, the match play quarterfinals will begin on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning as originally scheduled.
