Co-Players of the Week
Philip Henning, Georgia
Henning began the weekend in doubles with partner Teodor Giusca against No. 12 Mississippi State, where the pair earned their ninth win of the year on court two over Ewen Lumsden and Petar Jovanovic by an impressive 6-2 score. With the win, Giusca and Henning won their third-straight doubles match and gave their opponents just their third loss of the spring. In singles, No. 19 Henning earned a straight set win over Petar Jovanovic, 7-6(3), 6-3. Just two days later, No. 19 Henning reached the 100-win mark with an impressive 6-3, 6-2 result over No. 65 Nikola Slavic, clinching the match for the Bulldogs' and giving the team the final win it needed to finish conference play unscathed.
Ronnie Hohmann, LSU
Hohmann won both of his singles matches in straight sets this week. In the match against No. 17 Auburn, Hohmann defeated the No. 53 ranked Tyler Stice 6-0, 6-4 and recorded his second ranked singles win of the season. Against No. 71 Vanderbilt, Hohmann worked fast, being the first to finish on the court against Nathan Cox with a 6-4, 6-2 win. In doubles play against Vanderbilt, Hohmann and his partner, Nick Watson, defeated No. 13 duo Siim Troost and Jeremie Casabon.
Freshman of the Week
Ethan Quinn, Georgia
Quinn picked up another straight-set win over a ranked opponent on court one, defeating No. 12 Mississippi State's No. 104 Nemanja Malesevic by a 6-2, 7-5 score. Quinn earned his fourth match-clinching win of the season and his eighth- straight set victory over ranked competition. On Saturday against No. 25 Ole Miss, Quinn began in doubles with partner Trent Bryde, the fifth-ranked duo in the nation over John Hallquist Lithen and Simon Junk, 6-1. No. 3 Quinn brought this momentum into singles, where he defeated Hallquist Lithen by an 6-1, 6-3 score.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Co-Players of the Week
Carolyn Ansari, Auburn
Ansari recorded two ranked singles wins and now has four wins over ranked opponents in dual matches this season and 13 dual singles wins overall. She began the week with a win over No. 29 South Carolina's Sarah Hamner (No. 20), 6-4, 6-2. Ansari's comeback victory over No. 17 Florida's No. 38 Carly Briggs (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) was the senior's 75th career singles victory, which places her in a tie for ninth all-time in program history.
Mary Stoiana, Texas A&M
The Aggies opened with No. 57 Kentucky, No. 69 Stoiana/Mia Kupres improved their winning streak to six as they shut out Zoe Hammond/Lidia González (6-0). No. 2 Stoiana wasted no time adding a point to the board in singles play, as she added another ranked dual match singles win over Flor Urrutia on court 1 (6-1, 6-4), her 10th ranked dual match singles win of the season. Against Vanderbilt, Stoiana/Kupres won their seventh straight match, as they dominated No. 78 Célia-Belle Mohr/Marcella Cruz (6-1), this was the pairs third ranked win as a duo. With the score standing at 3-1, Stoiana was the consistent pillar of the team once again, picking up her 11th conference singles dual match win over No. 34 Mohr (7-5, 6-4).
Freshman of the Week
Rachel Gailis, Florida
Gailis went undefeated in singles for the third consecutive weekend at court four and opened both doubles competitions with a win on court two to help Florida secure the doubles point. Against Alabama, the No. 74 pair of Gailis and Carly Briggs kicked off doubles with a 6-3 win over Parkhomenko/Sedlackova. She followed by adding UF's third point with a straight set victory, 6-3, 6-2 over Anna Parkhomenko. Against Auburn to decide the No. 4 seed, Gailis and Briggs dropped just one game against Flach/Okutoyi and sped past for the 6-1 victory, snapping the Auburn pair's three-match winning streak. Gailis boosted the Orange & Blue towards the top-15 triumph over Auburn after taking charge of the three-set win over Kaitlyn Carnicella, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 for their third point of the match.
