Alabama closes season with second round loss to UNC
LUBBOCK, Texas - The sixth-seeded Alabama soccer team (12-5-5) concluded the 2023 campaign in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament Friday after falling 1-0 to third-seeded North Carolina (12-1-8).
North Carolina found its game-winning shot off a low driven ball from Ally Sentnor in the 19th minute. UA's Coralie Lallier would tally a career-high saves in net to hold the Tar Heels to just one goal in the game.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"Today we lost to a very talented and well coached North Carolina team. I thought they had the run of the play in the first half, but I thought our response in the second half was excellent. We were able to gain much more territory and pin them in.
"Proud of our team today and throughout the season. We had big shoes to fill based on our success last season, and despite losing a core group of players from last season, we were able to put together a pretty impressive year."
