HOOVER, Ala. -- Fourth-seeded Florida used an eight-run third inning to power past ninth-seeded Auburn 11-2 and avoid elimination in the 2015 SEC Baseball Tournament.

The Gators scored 11 runs on 15 hits, including eight runs in the third inning that all came with two outs. Florida senior Josh Tobias led the Gators, going 4-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base. Peter Alonso went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored.

"I am really proud of the way we responded to the tough loss last night," said Florida head coach Kevin O'Sullivan. "I am really pleased with how they came out with some focus."

Florida scored first on a sacrifice fly by JJ Schwarz in the bottom of the second. With two outs in the bottom of the third, an RBI single by Tobias started a streak for the Gators. Florida expanded its lead to 9-0 by the end of the inning.

"It was a great inning to get eight runs," said Tobias. "The main thing we did was string together at-bats. Things kid of unfolded from there. It is always awesome to have innings like that."

Auburn got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single from Austin Murphy. Florida added two more runs in the sixth to increase its lead to 10 runs. Auburn avoided a run-rule loss by scoring another run in the bottom of the inning.

Florida's Logan Shore (7-6) struck out seven, giving up only two runs on six hits in 7.2 innings.

Florida improved to 41-16 while Auburn fell to 35-24 on the season.

The Gators play in another elimination game tomorrow, facing the loser of the LSU-Arkansas matchup. Florida's game is scheduled to begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Friday's first game, which starts at 4:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
