Vanderbilt Leads at SEC Men's Golf Championship
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (April 20, 2022) -- Vanderbilt fired a 7-under par (273) to take a three-shot lead on day one of the 2022 SEC Men's Golf Championship at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Georgia stands in second place at 276, LSU is third with 277, while Texas A&M (279), Florida and Missouri are tied at 5th (282). Mississippi State and Kentucky are tied for 7th (285), Auburn and South Carolina are tied at 9th (286) ahead of Arkansas 288, Alabama (290), Tennessee (292) and Ole Miss (294).
Ryan Hall of South Carolina shot the lowest round of the day at 4-under 66. Reid Davenport and Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt, Trent Phillips of Georgia, Phichaksn Maichon of Texas A&M, Drew Doyle and Cohen Trolio from LSU each carded a 3-under 67.
This marks the 21st year for the Southeastern Conference Championship to be held at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia. There will be two more days of stroke play, followed by match play on Saturday and Sunday. The championship match on Sunday will be televised live on SEC Network. The semifinals on Saturday will be available live on SECN+.
